Muscoril is a muscle relaxant drug bundled with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. It is used for treating muscular spasms, and rheumatologic, orthopedic, and traumatologic disorders. Muscoril can reduce muscle tone, works as a peripherally acting muscle relaxant like curare, and functions to generate a block at the neuromuscular junction. Because of this, it is a useful drug in surgery. It performs the function of muscle reliever and acts on the brain and spinal cord to reduce muscle tone. These properties make it helpful in dealing with muscle spasm and/or spasticity.

Although Muscoril is a muscle relaxant, this medicine does not cure muscles, since they heal themselves. It basically relieves the pain and allows the body to heal itself. It acts on the brain and lessens its ability to sense pain, and helps you to relax. Moreover, it also blocks pain sensations, which the body’s nerves transfer to the nervous system. Mostly, Muscoril is used in conjunction with treatment or exercise. You must keep in mind that muscles require some time to return to their normal relaxed state. Because of this, medicines can aid to halt the pain; they cannot help the muscles get back their normal movement. Muscoril is advised for use with a muscular spasm or cramp, particularly when it is caused by injury.

Muscoril is normally recommended in addition with proper rest, exercise, or physical therapy, or other treatments. It provides relief from pain, yet it cannot take the place of these other treatments.

This drug is advised to be taken as 8 mg on day one. It can be increased slowly up to 12 to 16 mg daily. You must not exceed the recommend dosage limit. It should not be taken on an empty stomach.

Muscoril may also cause certain side effects like dizziness, upset stomach, vomiting, itchy feeling in the arms, legs, hands, and feet, dry mouth or increased muscle spasms. If any of these symptoms occur, you must inform your doctor. Nevertheless, these side effects are not common, and very few people experience them.

Muscoril is normally not helpful for treating cramps that as a result of physiological reasons. If you take it for these reasons, you may feel dizzy or drowsy, or suffer blurred vision.
